Description

Animal Ghosts is a book by Elliott O'Donnell, first published in 1913. The author was interested in the paranormal after he apparently saw a ghost when he was five years old. He also claimed to have been strangled by a phantom in Dublin. This book is a mixture of folk stories, extracts from publications, and tales that were told to the author. However, it's a bit of a mixed bag. At least two of the stories he tells which are apparently written in the words told to him, have almost the same description of a house lived in. The author also makes a lot of assumptions about animals and their souls, and a lot of the tales seem like your regular sterotypical spooky tales. It still makes for an interesting read however, and it does include a story about the Gabriel Hounds, a spectral pack in the North of England who are supposed to foretell death by their yelping at night.

This book has 65,330 words, and was originally published in 1913.
